Not all brake discs that appear to be two piece performance rotors are engineered to the same standard.
Many low cost alternatives available online are simply one piece cast iron brake discs that have been machined or finished to imitate the appearance of a premium two-piece assembly. Although this may appear modest in relation to the total vehicle mass, reducing unsprung weight has a significant effect on suspension response, steering precision, ride quality, and overall handling characteristics. Lower rotational inertia also contributes to improved vehicle responsiveness.
Advanced Thermal Management
Separating the friction ring from the aluminium hub helps reduce heat transfer into the hub assembly, wheel bearings, and surrounding braking components. Combined with an optimised internal ventilation design, this improves heat dissipation, lowers operating temperatures, and enhances resistance to brake fade during repeated high-energy braking events.
